About Us

Beat is an up-and-coming competitive team in the Dragon Hearts family.

The 2014 season will be an exciting one for Beat: we are training to compete on the national stage, in Welland, Ontario, with the best teams in the country. In 2012, we achieved competitive status in the Rio Tinto Alcan Festival for the first time, finishing 5th in the Competitive B division, and have continued to increase our competition level since then. In 2013, we finished fifth overall (Competitive A) in the Rio Tinto Alcan Festival, and went on to place second overall in the Harrison festival and first overall in the Seattle festival.

This year, we are placing a strong focus on improving paddlers individually using OC1 training in addition to dragonboat. Our coach has paddled with some of the most competitive teams on the Creek, and works with each paddler in order to fulfill our individual and collective potential. Whether you’re new to dragonboating, returning after some time away, or simply looking to step it up, we’re happy to talk to you. We ask for a strong commitment to practices, and an appetite to train and race hard.

We support and encourage each other in the pursuit of our goals. Team bonding, both on and off the water, is important to us, so we organize team socials (movies, bowling, curling, dining out) from time to time.

If you are interested or have any questions about joining Dragon Hearts Beat, then we would love to hear from you. Please contact us at .
